Hello everybody and welcome to 2015. What an amazing start to the year we've had. Two newbies started in the playgroup and after a very emotional goodbye to some of our "big school" kids these two are the breathe of fresh air we needed. We wish our school goers all the very best for the future but we miss them terribly.
No doubt you guys have noticed I spent a lot of the Christmas break pinning and sharing loads and loads and loads of activity ideas, well I'm sorry if I'm boring you but after 20 years of running the playschool I started to feel like I was stagnating and I wasn't doing the kids the blindest bit of good.
So at this point I would like to thank Happy Hooligans, Kids activities blog, teaching 2 and 3 year olds, twoodaloo and many many more for giving me life back. I am suddenly bursting with energy and ideas and the kids are feeling it too, they are loving coming to school everyday and are excited to see what we are going to do this year.
We have only been back at school a week, the weather has been scorching so a lot of water sensory bins have been set up, played with and destroyed, yet a lot of learning has been achieved to, colours red blue green and yellow, shapes, the letter "b" and numbers 1-3. Road safety was the theme and to be honest as much as the kids have learnt all of these things I honestly don't think they know they had a lesson. OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED learning through play.
We started the week making traffic lights and learning red means stop green means go yellow means slow down

The kids had an absolute ball painting with our home made paint recognizing all the different colors and stapling on the lights. Then we made our own rock cars and drew roads in the sandpit and drove our cars in it. The uses for rocks are unbelievable
For our baking day robots were the flavour of the week
shape and colour became a huge game even the littlest got involved
so all in all a very productive fun week was had by all
